Regulatory sandboxes support the safe development and testing of innovative healthcare services in a controlled environment.

Regulatory sandboxes are initiatives to implement and experiment a new way to deliver healthcare in a controlled environment with regulatory supervision, where the provider and the regulator partner together to develop and implement the health technology, innovations, including new care models, for a defined period of time.

It enables early collaboration with industry partners to support the development of effective and appropriate regulatory approaches while safeguarding patient safety and welfare. Some regulatory sandboxes which had been implemented include telemedicine and community pharmacist influenza vaccinations.
